As I start this relaxation exercise for Unit 3, I notice that I am
tense from the day’s work and frustrations. I am ready for my dedicated time to
relax and to calm my inner self to reach a more peaceful place. Wondering thoughts
come and go while I concentrate on breathing in slowly. When I thought of the
color red could see a rich, ripe apple and I imagined my spine beaming a
red ray of light toward the ground. Then moving to the color orange as centered
and worth, made me feel warm. The yellow made me feel happy and reminded me of
my kitchen. I do feel loved when I look at it and I think that might be why I
love sunflowers as well. The color emerald green reminded me of a gem and when I closed
my eyes I could see it shimmering in the sun light. The symbolic thoughts of
love are similar to prayers and thoughts we send to others. Aqua blue symbolizing
the throat represented will power and sense of creativity. Along with accomplishments
we seek through goal setting, such as my goal of graduating with my bachelors
degree, it gives us a meaningful purpose in life. The circle of light on my
forehead was the color indigo blue and help to find balance within myself and tap
into my unconsciousness. As the crown of my head was encompassed by the ambiance
of purple light it allowed me to feel connected to the universe and it let me now
that I am not alone. The phrases we had to repeat to ourselves reminded me that
sometimes we just need to hear them and really focus on it to understand and be
aware that we do have all of the capabilities to be everything we need to be in
life within ourselves. I enjoyed the repetitiveness of the phrases and the focus on breathing
the most and felt those areas where the most beneficial to me for this experience. However, I did have to listen to the technique
twice to truly embrace the method in which they were trying to get me to relax.
I really think that the more open you are to let the relaxation work for you
the better off you are in it helping you relieve stress.

Heather, Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Great description of how the CD made you feel. I really enjoyed reading your blog because it was almost like I was listening to the man speaking again. I love the way the colors represent a specific area in our body. I believe it makes it easier to focus when you have something to associate with. Have a great rest of the week:)

I really enjoyed reading your post Heather! You are so descriptive in all three posts so far. If I wrote that well, I would say the same thing about the experience. I liked having to repeat the phrases, also. I totally agree on you about having to say them & hear them on your own. Doing that is something I need to do. Actually, if I said more affirmations on my own, I probably would have a better self image. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your reply. I think we all could be a little more positive and kind to ourselves.
